The Winery

Rosa d'Oro vineyards and winery is owned and operated by the Buttitta family. We have been growing premium wine grapes in California since 1953. We focus on the production of old-world Italian wines of the highest quality made from our own organic certified vineyards, and also be produce our own orchard-grown olive oils and vinegars.

In 1991 we moved to Lake County from Sonoma County , and in 1994 we planted our first vines. The rich, red volcanic soil and temperate climate outside of Kelseyville is perfect for our selection of Italian varietals. Today we grow and produce Aglianico, Barbera, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, and our award-winning Primitivo. We also vint an award-winning Syrah from locally produced grapes and an unusual oakaged Semillion. 2004 saw our first production run of olive oil from our own pendolino, maurino, frantoio, leccino, corotina, and arbaquena olives trees. Our first run of vinegars are also completed.

In 2003 we offered our 2001 and 2002 wines to the public for the first time. We are expanding our production every year; we are currently producing 1500 cases a year at approximately 200 cases per varietal. The last few years have been good, but 2007 will produce exceptional wines.

In October of 2005 we opened our Tasting Room on Main Street in Kelseyville, CA.
